Mary Kelly

Mary E. Kelly, age 71, of East Bridgewater died Tuesday, June 22 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.

Born in Boston on December 18, 1949 she was the daughter of the late James W. "Jim" and Bridget H. "Bridie" (Dirrane) Kelly.

Mary was born and raised in South Boston before the family moved to Dorchester, and she ultimately settled herself in East Bridgewater. She received her nursing degree from MassBay Community College and enjoyed a long career in the nursing field. Mary spent ten years at Massachusetts General Hospital on the renal transplant team, another nearly 20 years at Brigham and Women's on the Bone Marrow transplant team, and ultimately finished her career at Dana Farber working in the research unit until her retirement. Mary was a very talented artist and loved to paint; she also loved to cook. She enjoyed taking road trips and made a couple of cross-country road trips. Mary most enjoyed her travel to Chicago to visit her god daughter and to Michigan and Washington DC to visit her nephews. Above all things, Mary loved her family and the "kids;" her niece and nephews were her biggest joy.

She is survived by her sisters, Sister Patricia Kelly, SND of Peabody and Ann Kelly-Maguire and her husband John of Wakefield; her brother, John R. Kelly and his wife Cindy of Needham; her nephews, David and Robert Kelly and Patrick Maguire and his wife Melissa; her niece, Molly Maguire and her fiancée Becca Lake; as well as great nephews, Sean Patrick and James Robert Maguire.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4-7pm. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
