Mary F. Scalfani, 81, of Wakefield, formerly of East Boston, died on Wednesday, January 27 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Boston on November 3, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Antone and Frances (Averill) DeWart.
Mrs. Scalfani was raised in East Boston. She had been a resident of Wakefield since 1996 and was a member of St. Joseph parish in Wakefield.
Mrs. Scalfani was the wife of the late Matteo Scalfani. She was the mother of Donald R. Scalfani and his wife Donna of Peabody, Gary R. Scalfani and his wife Elaine, Matthew M. Scalfani and Deborah A. Scalfani all of Wakefield. She was the sister of Donald DeWart of Saugus, Teresa Morani of Carver and the late Bernard and Robert DeWart, Agatha Hamelberg and Joan Brown. She is also survived by her 7 grandchilden, Nicole, Matthew, Jason, Ashley, Renee, Kayla and Jake and 3 great grandchildren, Ella, Lily and Ava.
A funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
