Maryanne T. (DiFederico) Carmody, 85, of Stoneham, formerly of Wakefield, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
Born in Malden on July 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Silvestri) DiFederico.
Maryanne grew up in Wakefield, MA. and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1954. In 1958, Maryanne married her high school sweetheart, John, and continued to reside in Wakefield where they raised their family.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 63 years, John C. Carmody; her sons Stephen Carmody and his wife Kathleen of Naples, FL and Sean Carmody and his wife Lisa of Northbridge, MA; her sister Joan Waldron of Riverview, FL; her grandchildren Jennifer Beaver and her husband Brendan, Sean Carmody and his wife Kelly, Megan Carmody, Brendan Carmody, Kaitlyn Aldridge and her husband Douglas, and Erin Gerroir, as well as six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles "Chuckie" DiFederico.
MaryAnne spent many years working as an as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics helping to build confidence and self-esteem in women. She also served as a Regional Director for the EF Foundation, a cultural exchange program giving young adults from foreign countries the opportunity to attend high school in the United States. Most recently, Maryanne served as past President and a present Director of the Wakefield Garden Club. She found great joy in making flower arrangements for her family and friends and loved her weekly coffee dates with her girlfriends. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Maryanne took great pride and joy in watching and cheering on her two sons as they played youth and high school sports. Some of her fondest memories were of watching her son Sean play football for Boston College. Maryanne and John relished their time tailgating and traveling to attend almost all away games forming lifelong friendships with parents of other players. Her most memorable trips were to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa and the 1988 Emerald Isle Classic in Dublin, Ireland.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 4 - 7 pm. Burial will follow in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 310, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481. www.mcdonaldfs.com
