Michael Carchia

Michael A. Carchia, 93, of Wakefield died on Wednesday, August 27 at the Wingate at Reading.

Born in Somerville on September 28, 1914, he was the son of the late Rocco and Christina (Azivino) Carchia.

Mr. Carchia was raised in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. He was a World War II Army Veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge for which he received the distinguished Purple Heart. Mr. Carchia had worked at Diebold as a field technician and was retired after 47 years.
He was a member of the V.F.W. of Saugus, the D.A.V. of Reading and the Retired Men's Club of Reading.

Mr. Carchia was the husband of Irene A. (Atwood) Carchia. Father of Michael A. Carchia, Jr. of Windham, NH & David A. Carchia of Arlington. Brother of Albert Carr, Rose English & Josephine Carchia all of Newton and the late Ralph Carchia & Marie English. He was the grandfather of Michael F. Carchia of VA, Jeffrey T. Carchia, Sally A. Mastalerz & Kristina Carchia all of NH and is also survived by his 7 great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Saturday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10:00 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
