Charles C. Calareso, 88 of Peabody and a former longtime Stoneham resident, died Thursday, December 11 in Boston. He was born in Boston on June 8, 1926 and was the son of the late Giuseppe and Josephine (DeLuca) Calareso.
Mr. Calareso was raised in Somerville and later served with the United States Marine Corps. during W.W. II. For many years he operated the Northern Farms Fruit and Vegetable Stand in Sudbury. He had been a member of St. Patrick Church and a very active member of Kearsarge Lodge of Swampscott.
Mr. Calareso was the loving brother of Joseph Calareso, Jr. and his wife Mary of Reading, Catherine H. Nigro and her late husband Al of Stoneham, Lorraine Seeley and her husband Richard of CT, and the late John and Anthony Calareso. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham of Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10:00. Interment will be at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kearsarge Lodge, 71 Cottage St., Lynn, MA 01901.
