Nina McCarty

Nina H . McCarty , 80, a life long resident of Wakefield died on Monday, November 14 at her home.

Born in Wakefield on May 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Marion G. (Galvin) Hickey.

Mrs. McCarty was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Wakefield High School. She was also a graduate of Regis College, 1952 and earned her MasterA'A'A's Degree in Education at Boston University. Mrs. McCarty taught 3rd grade at the Dolbeare School in Wakefield and was also a Librarian at the Galvin Middle School in Wakefield.

She was the wife of Philip F. McCarty . She was the mother of Philip F. McCarty , Jr. and his wife Rita of North Smithfield, RI, Jacquelyn Meekins and her husband Jeffrey, Karen Carrier and her husband John, and Marian Joy Schilling and her husband Jeffrey all of Wakefield, Nancy Davis and her husband Stephen of Danvers and Andrea McCarty and her husband Michael Kilkelly of Santa Monica, CA. She was the sister of John Hickey of Naples, Italy, Marion Whiting of Hampton, NH and Audrey Reidy of Scituate. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
