Nora B. Smith, age 81, of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 18, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Santina (Bracco) Van Cott. Despite being a lifelong resident of Lynnfield, she loved and cherished her family and memories of Brooklyn and took great pride in her Italian heritage.
Nora will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Francis Smith; her son, Francis Smith (Karyn), of Bradford, MA; her daughter, Suzeanne Guertin (Mark), of Lynnfield, MA; and her seven cherished grandchildren, Bryanna, Bryttany, Colton, Sydney, Jake, Max and Will. She was predeceased by her brother, George Van Cott (Angela) of Falmouth, MA; and is survived by her brother Philip (Karen) Van Cott of CT. Nora is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nora was a remarkable woman, whose inner and outer beauty graced the lives of all fortunate enough to know her. Her love and kindness will be forever missed. Nora, similar to her mother, found joy in expressing love through cooking. It was impossible to keep up with her curiosity and mastery of so many things. Yet, she generously and selflessly shared her time, knowledge and expertise to anyone eager to learn. Nora was an esthetician by trade and her skilled hands brought joy, comfort and radiance to those she touched. Her greatest happiness stemmed from family gatherings, visiting Rockport, MA and sitting by the ocean. She loved this country, art, history, music and dancing. Though she has departed this world, her legacy of love and light will forever illuminate the hearts of those she touched and cherished.
The family will be hosting a celebration of Nora's life in June where they will honor her memory and all the joy she brought to those around her.
