Octavio O. Reis

Octavio O. Reis, age 78, of Saugus passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 at his residence.

He was born in The Azores of Portugal on June 4, 1947 and was the son of the late Jeremias and Ermelinda (Reis) Botelho.

Octavio was raised in Sao Miguel, Azores Portugal and was a member of the Portuguese military, having been recruited to be a chef. He came to the United States in the early 1970’s, started his family in Somerville and ultimately settled in Saugus. Octavio had worked his entire career as a floor layer, a career of which he was very proud. He also enjoyed trips to Canada to visit family and trips to Maine.

He was the beloved husband of Maria F. (Rego). He was the loving father of Lawrence Reis and his wife Sarah of Swampscott and Kelly Reis of Saugus. He was the adoring grandfather of Rose, Owen and John. He is also survived by many siblings.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday, March 4 from 4-7PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
