Paul E. Donnelly, Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Edward Donnelly, Jr. on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Paul was 69 years old.

Born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia on June 10, 1956, he was the first-born son of the late Paul Edward Donnelly, Sr. and Madeline (Penna) Donnelly. Throughout his life, he carried with him the values of his Italian and Irish heritage. He placed family, loyalty, hard work, and perseverance at the center of all he did.

A proud United States Marine, Paul served his country honorably and remained deeply proud of his military service throughout his life.

Throughout his career in machining Paul was known for his craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.

Above all else, Paul was devoted to his family. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Hochmuth and her husband Benjamin, and his son, Jason Donnelly and his wife, Ashley. His greatest joy was being Grampy to his cherished grandchildren, William, Parker, and Avery. He delighted in their accomplishments; treasured time spent with them and spoke of them with immense pride. He was also eagerly looking forward to welcoming another grandchild into the family.

Paul is survived by his devoted mother, Madeline (Penna) Donnely; brother, James Donnelly and his wife, Jody; his sister, Suzanne Robichaud and her husband, Kenneth, and his sister, Noreen Barbaro, widow of the late Charles Barbaro, Sr. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends.

Paul had a deep passion for golf, fishing, and hunting. In retirement, he enjoyed working at Patriot Golf Course, where he combined his love of the game with the friendships and sense of community it brought him. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the golf course with his son, Jason, and alongside his niece and nephews, sharing stories, laughter, and friendly competition.

Though he and his former wife, Yvonne, followed different paths later in life, they shared the lasting gift of raising a wonderful family together. The love they both had for their children and grandchildren remained an enduring connection and source of pride.

Paul will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, loyalty, and generosity. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and lasting memories.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, June 15 from 4-6pm followed by a prayer service with military honors at 6pm.
