Richard J. McGrath

Richard James McGrath, age 70 of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 12 at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Malden on April 23, 1956 and was the son of the late Francis and Florence (Berrigan) McGrath.

Dick cherished his work as an EMT, playing softball, his career at Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department, watching Boston sports, and his time with his family was by far his most invaluable pass time. He had a quick wit and infectious sarcasm that was adored by all who knew him. His love for the town of Wakefield was deep, and his loss will be felt throughout.

He was the beloved husband of Cindy (Campbell) McGrath. He was the loving father of Sean McGrath and his wife Caitlin of Wakefield, and Colleen Currant and her husband Philip of Rowley, and the cherished Grampy to his grandchildren Ella, Dylan, Griffin, Alanna, and Isla. Dick is survived by his brother Bud McGrath and his wife Gena of Arizona. He is preceded by his brothers Tommy and Stephen, and his sister Janice.
