Robert D. Palermo

After a long battle against Lewy Body dementia, Robert (Bob) Palermo, passed away on April 12th 2023, at The Royal Meadow Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Reading.  His final moments were spent surrounded by the love of his family.

Bob was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on September 24, 1947, grew up in East Boston and resided in Lynnfield for over 46 years. He studied Denturitry at Mills Grae University, Kaalispell, MT and George Brown College, Toronto, Canada.

Bob was very creative, had an eye for detail, and a technical mind. Those gifts coupled with his mechanical abilities made him an artist in the dental field.  For decades, Bob owned and operated “Mylab”, a dental laboratory, in Saugus center.  There he fabricated fixed and removable dental prosthetics as well as dental implants for dentists in the Boston area.  His work made it into the smiles of Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins players, Politicians, TV personalities, and many other people.

His deep desire to help people on a one-on-one basis inspired him to make a later in life leap into Denturitry.  He packed up his lab, obtained a license as a Denturist and opened a denture clinic in Kennebunk Maine. He practiced as a licensed denturist for over 14 years.  Bob loved this work. He gained much satisfaction in giving people new confident smiles and offering them back the ability to eat the food they loved.

Bob was a member of the Stoneham Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness, Saugus, Ma.  He volunteered time helping people to get to know the Bible and its message.

Bob had an infectious smile. You always knew when Bob was in the room. He was gregarious, generous, and hospitable. His hobbies reflected his artistic abilities. He enjoyed painting, drawing and jewelry making. He loved the beach, traveling, his family and God. His loss will be mourned not only by his family, but also his many friends and those he took under his wing.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Royal Meadow for the love and care extended to Bob during his last 7 months.

Bob is survived by wife, Susann (Picardi) Palermo, his daughter, Allyson Ligor of North Reading, her husband Matthew, his son, Christopher Palermo of Newton NH, his wife Kimberly. He is also survived by his two grandchildren,  Fiona and Giuliana, and 5 nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his siblings Vincent Palermo and Maria Contardi.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Sunday, April 16 from 2-5pm. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
