Ronald H. MacDonald

Ronald H. MacDonald, 91, of North Andover, formerly of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, surrounded by the love that defined his life.

Born in Brighton on July 8, 1934, he was the son of the late John A. and Margaret (MacInnis) MacDonald.

Ronnie grew up on Harriet Street in a close-knit neighborhood and carried that sense of connection throughout his life. He was a graduate of Saint Columbkille High School. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he returned home and met the love of his life, Louise DeSanto. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, devotion, and an ever-expanding circle of family and friends.

Ronnie had a rare gift for making people feel comfortable. Quick to smile and quicker to laugh—often at himself, he turned strangers into friends with ease. His warmth extended everywhere: to his many nieces and nephews, neighbors on Edward Ave, work colleagues who became lifelong friends, and golfing buddies who created “The Jack”. Ronnie had a successful career as a Customs House Broker, known across the industry as a trusted professional and friend. Whether on the job, on the golf course or enjoying life’s simple pleasures—coffee at the kitchen table, scenic drives, or ice cream at any time with anyone—Ronnie’s joy always shined through.

Above all, family was his greatest pride. He was a devoted father to Diane Iannone and her husband Stephen of North Andover, Michael MacDonald and his wife Jennifer of Nottingham, NH, Karen MacDonald of South Portland, ME, Susan Tidd of North Reading, and Tom MacDonald and his wife Lisa of Kennebunk, ME. He was the brother of the late Elmer MacDonald and Veronica Parker. Ronald is also survived by his grandchildren, John, Matthew and his wife Maryanne, Therese, Mac and his fiancée Cassandra, Mason, Mia, Ian, and Eva, and his great grandson Harrison.

At every family party, sporting event, recital, play, and milestone, Ronnie was there—often first to arrive and last to leave—fully present and sharing in the joy of each moment. His kindness, humility, and love created a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Monday, November 24, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 115 Chestnut St., Lynnfield. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery. Lunch to follow.
