Rose M. Golini

Rose M. (Ferraro) Golini of Wakefield, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16th, surrounded by love and family. She was 97 years old. Born in East Boston on April 27, 1928 Rose was the beloved daughter of the late Carmine Ferraro and Lucia (Trimonte) Ferraro.

A precocious child, family stories include sneaking candy from her father’s grocery, learning to ride the forbidden bicycle, and sneaking into Fenway to catch a Red Sox game. Rose met her husband, the late Irving Golini, at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom where it was love at first swing. Their dance lasted 60 years, until Irving passed away in 2010. They moved to the suburbs in 1957 and raised five children who always felt deeply loved and the center of their family’s universe. 46 Nahant St was hearth and home, known for impressive fig trees, as well as large and inviting celebrations- Sunday Dinner, birthdays, Christmas, 4th of July. Rose’s kitchen was a second home to many family, friends, neighbors, and her children’s friends and classmates.

Rose’s many interests include music of all genres, golf, traveling, exercise, swimming in her pool, the Red Sox, Steve Harvey, St Florence Church, crocheting, playing cards, Bakersfield, word search puzzles, and family more than all else. She was an outspoken advocate and defender of the young and underrepresented.

Rose was the loving mother of Loretta Andreottola, Pat Golini, Paula Tucci, Rosemarie Golini, Jack Golini, and their partners. She was the devoted grandmother of Lindsay Brown, Lauren Andreottola, Evan Golini, Alexis Merry, Michela Tucci, Nicholas Tucci, Maia Little, Nina Little, Joseph Golini, Olivia Golini, and their partners. She was the beloved great-grandmother of Colin Brown, Desmond Brown, Louis Brown, Carmine Coy, Taylor Golini, John Golini, Siena Merry, and Violet Merry. Rose is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews as well as many grandnephews and grandnieces. Her sisters Concetta Buckley, Antonette Raso, Mary Borzillo, and Joanne (Ginger) DiSciscio predeceased her.

Rose will be remembered as a loving, generous, and fiercely loyal wife, mother, grammy, great-grammy, aunt, and friend, for her incredible fig squares, and for her easy laugh and infectious smile.

Her Funeral Service will be held at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, on Friday, August 22nd at 11am. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 9 to 11 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 10440 Little Patuxent Parkway, Suite 300, Columbia, MD 21044
