Rose Mahoney

Rose G. Mahoney, 90, of Stoneham, died Friday, September 19 at the Winchester Hospital.

Born in Stoneham on November 29, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Rose E. (Austin) Donovan.

Mrs. Mahoney was a life long Stoneham resident. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grammar School, St. Patrick's All Girls High School, Class of 1934 and Stoneham High School, Class of 1935. After graduating high school, Mrs. Mahoney went on to graduate from the Malden Commercial Business School in Malden. She became a secretary at Lumberman's Mutual Insurance Company and Yarchin's Insurance Company both of Boston. She left to raise her family. In 1977, Mrs. Mahoney returned to the workforce as a homemaker for the elderly at Intercity Homemaker Service, Inc in Malden and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of "her people" for 25 years until her retirement in 2002 at the age of 84. She was a member and long time communicant of St. Patrick's Parish. Mrs. Mahoney was an avid Boston sports fan.

Mrs. Mahoney was the beloved wife of the late Francis F. Mahoney Sr. Devoted mother of Francis F. Mahoney Jr., Ann Marie Mahoney and Kathleen Luciano all of Stoneham and Rosanne Davidian of Tewksbury. Brother of Joseph H. Donovan of Stoneham. Cherished grandmother of Joseph and Michael Amazeen and Anthony Luciano all of Stoneham and Joseph, Timothy, William and Michael Davidian all of Tewksbury.
She was predeceased by her daughter Rose Mahoney, her son Joseph Mahoney, her three sisters; Mary Ann Donovan, Kathleen V. Donovan and Marguerite F. Bridges and her brother William A. Donovan. Mrs. Mahoney is also survived by many loving members of her extended family.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St, Stoneham Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St, Stoneham at 10 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick's Church Building Fund, 71 Central St, Stoneham, MA 02180
