Rose M. Trahan, age 96, a long-time resident of Wakefield passed away on Thursday, September 25 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Lynnfield.
She was born in Boston on May 28, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Albina (Dell’Orfano) DeAngelis.
Mrs. Trahan was raised in East Boston and was a graduate of Fitton High School. She had been offered a four-year scholarship to Emmanuel College but ultimately decided to enter the work force, taking a job as a bookkeeper at General Electric. In 1953 she left the workforce to start her family and raise her children. She enjoyed being a homemaker for many years but returned to work when she was able and ultimately retired from the food brokerage business, having worked for Roberts and Associates. Together with her husband, she enjoyed travelling extensively both stateside and abroad. Above all, she cherished time with her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Trahan, Sr. She was the loving mother of Sheryl J. DeCarlo and her husband Carmen of Wakefield and Joseph E. Trahan, Jr., and his wife Susan of Pelham, NH. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Jonathan DeCarlo and his wife Janelle, Justin DeCarlo and Chris DeCarlo, Tina Perez and her husband Edwin and Megan Dufresne and her husband Adam. She was the great grandmother of Samantha and Mackenzie Perez and Adeline and Scarlett Dufresne. Mrs. Trahan was predeceased by her siblings, John, Joseph, William, Ralph, Carmen and Anthony DeAngelis and Margaret Coccia, Agnes Grillo, and Phyllis Rota. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, September 29 from 9-11am followed by her Funeral Mass in the St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St. Lynnfield at 11:30am. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the staff at the Sunrise Assisted Living of Lynnfield for their love and care for Rose in her final years.
