Rosemary Rowley Sherman

Rosemary Rowley Sherman of Stoneham, MA passed on March 3rd with her loving husband, Doug, by her side.

Fondly known as Roe, she was born on October 10, 1953 in Boston, MA and was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Rose E. (Kenny) Rowley.

Roe graduated from Our Lady of the Presentation Academy and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeastern University as well as a Master of Science in Management from Lesley University.

She dedicated her career in healthcare to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, where she spent more than 53 years serving the hospital community. Roe was a respected manager that took pride in improving the systems that supported patient care.

In her free time, Roe was an avid golfer who loved her time as a member of Bear Hill Golf Club, Stoneham, MA. She also enjoyed spending winter months golfing with Doug at the Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter, FL.

Roe is survived by her husband, Doug Sherman, her stepson Douglas Sherman of Somerville, and his partner Bridget Zerner.

Roe is also survived by her sister Frances G. Rowley of Lexington; her niece Amanda Levine of Boston and her husband Eliott Levine and their children, Jack, Emma, and Theo.

Roe was a beloved sister-in-law and dear friend to the Sherman family. Her warmth, generosity and gentle spirit left an impression on everyone she met. She brought love into our lives and will be remembered always for her kindness and grace. She will be dearly missed.

Immense gratitude to the caring doctors, nurses, and staff at Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute for their dedicated service and care of Roe.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, MA on Thursday, March 12 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Her Funeral will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 13 at 11:30 a.m.

Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Roe’s memory to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation
