Ruth K. Coffill of Lynnfield, MA passed away August 21, 2025 at the age of 98.

Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Edith D. Kent (Daley), both from Nova Scotia. Ruth grew up in Wakefield, MA. Her grandfather owned Daley Drug Store in Harvard Square where Ruth worked part-time during high school. She worked in Boston at the DPW before marrying the love of her life, Bill Coffill. They built a house in Lynnfield where they raised their two children. She was a wonderful mother, taking her children to museums, hiking, bird sanctuaries, and skiing all over New England. She was involved in the garden club, couples club and was a superb gardener, seamstress, and an avid golfer. They were members of the Thompson Club for many years. She enjoyed her bowling league at the Wakefield Bowladrome, and aqua aerobics at the Northeast Metro Tech into her 80’s. Ruth and Bill enjoyed many trips together and with family including: Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan and Hong Kong. In retirement they golfed in all 48 US continental states. Ruth worked at Analogic/Data Precision in the accounting department for many years before retiring. She had a great sense of humor, a kind and friendly nature, and was a creative and clever person.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Bill. She was the loving mother of Steven Coffill and his wife Diana of Beverly, Susan Coffill and her partner Martin Deluga of Newton, and grandmother of Brian Coffill of Washington, DC. She is also survived by her siblings, Linda Von Blon of Connecticut, Phyllis Robinson of Mexico, Edward Kent of Idaho, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Simmons Blatz and her brother in law Robert Coffill. Last but not least, she leaves behind her beloved cat, Max.

Funeral and memorial services will be private. Arrangements in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield, MA.
