WAKEFIELD – Ruth (Goodwin) Fratus, age 88, of Wakefield passed away on Friday, December 19 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Massachusetts.
Ruth was the daughter of the late A. Joseph and Ruth (Gott) Goodwin.
She was born in Boston, lived for a short time in Melrose, before returning to Wakefield where she had resided for the remainder of her life.
She graduated from Wakefield High School and went on to graduate from Katherine Gibbs Business School.
Ruth went on to be employed by Proctor and Gamble until her retirement in 1992.
She married her husband, the late Russell J. Fratus, on May 19, 1973.
Ruth was a lifelong fan of country music. She enjoyed traveling in her free time. She and her husband took multiple cruises and vacations, visiting over 15 countries.
Ruth was the loving aunt of the late Sandra Goodwin.
She was also the great aunt of her great nieces, Casey Murphy of Dorchester, MacKenzie Murphy of Lynn, and great nephew Zachary Murphy of Wakefield. She also leaves behind Casey’s lovable dog, Pheobe, who brought her many hours of joy by visiting her often!
She is survived by her beloved brother, Richard J and his wife Joan Goodwin of Wakefield.
Ruth was preceded in death by her longtime friend Joan Fasciano.
She loved and was loved by Joan’s children, Linda Fasciano and her brother Daniel Fasciano.
Private visitation was held at the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield, followed by a graveside service at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Care Dimensions of Lincoln.
