Ruth B. Zarella, 90, a life-long resident of Melrose died on Thursday, July 1 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Melrose on April 1, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Georgia (Miller) Powers.
Mrs. Zarella was a graduate of Melrose High School and had attended business school in Boston. She was the librarian at the Melrose Public Library and had retired after 30 years.
Mrs. Zarella is survived by her husband Americo W. Zarella. Her two sons William A. Zarella of East Boston and David K. Zarella and wife Lillian of Melrose. Her two grandchildren Marcie Zarella and Daniel Zarella and his wife Renee all of Melrose. She is also survived by her three great grandsons Joseph, Matthew, and Anthony. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Saturday at 12noon. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10am. Interment will be at the Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
