Sheila A. Saulnier, age 81 of Melrose, formerly of Wakefield, passed away on February 3 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
She was born in Palmer, Massachusetts on May 26, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Dorothea Richards. She experienced profound loss in her lifetime, having been predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Saulnier, and her son, Robert Saulnier. Through life's hardships, she carried herself with love, humor, grace and dignity.
Sheila was funny, wonderful saracastic, and was never one to sugarcoat her opinions. She had a sharp wit that could catch you off guard and a sense of humor that made even ordinary days memorable. If you were lucky enough to be teased by her, you knew you were loved.
Sheila had a true gift in the kitchen and was especially famous for her homemade chocolate cakes and breads. Family gatherings were never complete without something baked by Sheila, and no one ever left her table hungry. Her food brought people together, and so did her presence.
Sheila adored children and had a special way of connecting with them - patient, playful, and always ready for whatever adventure they suggested. Whether it was a new experience, a spontaneous plan, or simply joining in the fun, she was always up for anything.
Those who knew Shiela will remember her warm heart, quick wit, steady presence and generous spirit. Her legacy lives on in the laughter she created, the children she cherished, and the recipes that will continue to be shared in her honor.
In honor of Sheila, please bake something sweet, gather your friends and family, and don't forget to laugh.
A celebration of life memorial will be held on March 14th at 12 PM at the Jonathan Cochrane house, 80 Grove St. Melrose, Ma.
