Steven Fleming

Steven T . Fleming , age 58, of Wakefield formerly of Stoneham, died on Sunday, August 14th, on Martha's Vineyard.

He was born in Stoneham on January 20, 1964 and was the son of David F. Fleming and the late Shirley (DeAngelis) Fleming . He was a proud alum of Stoneham High School and Norwich University.

Steven was known and loved for his compassion, easygoing nature, and relentless humor. He could make anyone laugh, even at the most inopportune times and despite the most valiant efforts to resist, because he did not see any time or place as off limits for his antics. He was happiest when spending time with his family, especially on Martha's Vineyard, at his summer home. He was always looking for company on his fishing, clamming, and lobstering trips and was passionate about cooking the fresh seafood he caught for anyone he could convince to try it.

While he was extremely devoted to humor and fun, he was equally passionate about his work. He started his career at Clean Harbors, where he built relationships that benefitted him for the rest of his life. He went on to start his own company, Vineyard Engineering & Environmental Services, working tirelessly to build a base of employees and clients that felt more like family. Steven's family and friends learned quickly not to ask about work unless they had at least forty minutes to hear about hazardous waste, but his passion and appreciation for the work he and his colleagues did was admirable and inspiring.

As the fifth of six children and a lifelong resident of the Stoneham and Wakefield communities, Steven's reach was wide and impactful. He knew how to make every person feel special and welcome and he has left an imprint on so many hearts that will never forget his warmth, compassion, and good humor.

He was the beloved husband of Lee (Mellen) Fleming . He was the loving father of Steven T . Fleming Jr. and his husband Rich Pelosi of Miami, Jamie L. ( Fleming ) Wells and Gordon of Quincy; Madelyn J. Fleming of New York City; and Kasey T . Fleming of Wakefield. He was the brother of Cynthia Ananian of Barrington, NH; Daniel Fleming and his wife Jan of Stoneham, MA; Nancy Faragi and her husband Michael of Derry, NH; Christine Fleming of Santa Monica, CA; and the late David F. Fleming , Jr.
