Thomas A. Clarke, age 70, a longtime Wakefield resident, passed away at his residence on June 2, 2025 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Malden on April 5, 1955 and was the son of the late Harold and Bernice (Flynn) Clarke.
Mr. Clarke was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1973. He ultimately settled in Wakefield, where he went on to raise his family. Mr. Clarke was a hardworking man who made sure his family was taken care of.
He spent countless hours driving trucks, especially cement trucks where he spent 18 years with the Wakefield Cement Company. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed coaching his daughters in softball, and watching his son play baseball. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter, appreciating trips with family and friends to Warren and Pittsburg, NH. He also enjoyed drag racing and was a member of Carrol’s Drag Racer’s Club of Stoneham. Mr. Clarke will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and sarcastic nature, demonstrated best when he was in conversation with his siblings. He had a great love for music, especially The Beach Boys and Elvis. Above all things, Mr. Clarke loved his family and most enjoyed his role as “Gramps” to his beloved grandchildren.
He was the loving father of Rebecca Clarke and her partner Richard McCarthy, both of Wakefield, Colleen Clarke of Tewksbury, and Daniel Clarke and his wife MaryAnn of Northfield, NH. He was the adoring grandfather of Rylee McCarthy, and Danielle, Hunter, Jacqueline, and Joseph Clarke. He was the brother of Stephen Clarke and his wife Janina of Melrose and the late Joseph Clarke and his wife Susan of Wakefield, the late Linda Jean Haley and her late husband Fred Haley of Tewksbury. He is also survived by his former wife Janice (Zanotti) Clarke; as well as many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, June 9 at 12pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service from 10am-12pm.
