Thomas J Joyce

Thomas J. Joyce, age 72 of Stoneham passed peacefully on June 15 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

He was born in Boston on May 23, 1953 and was the son of the late Michael and Theresa (Helebert) Joyce.

Tom was raised in Dorchester, a place he held dear throughout his life. Growing up on Willis Street, he developed strong connections to his roots. He was a proud member of the Chippawa's football team in South Boston. He eventually settled in and made his home in Stoneham.

Passionate about his profession, Tom served as an equipment instructor and dispatcher for the MBTA. He also played a vital role as a consultant and instructor for IBEW Local 103, assisting drivers in obtaining their CDL licenses and advancing their careers.

Tom’s commitment to service extended to his 30 years with the Massachusetts National Guard, from which he proudly retired. Family was incredibly important to him, and he cherished his nieces and nephews, finding joy in watching his nephews play hockey. A true sports enthusiast, Tom was an avid fan of New England's sports teams, especially the Bruins and Patriots.

Tom had a passion for Plum Island, MA where he loved spending time with his wife, dogs and extended neighborhood family.

Tom was the beloved husband of JoAnn S. Marrone-Joyce. He was the stepfather of Matthew J. Galante of Stoneham. He was the brother of Mary Joyce-Morris and husband James of Boston, Christina Sheehan and husband Daniel of Norwood, Theresa Norberg and husband William of Norwood, Michael Joyce and wife Christine of Mansfield and the late Eileen Joyce and her surviving partner Stephen Jacobs of Quincy. He was the brother-in-Law of Victoria Cantlin of Northboro, Mary DiTucci and her husband Daniel of Burlington, Joseph Marrone and his wife Sharon of Vero Beach FL, John Marrone and his wife Gie Gie of Belmont, NH and the late Peter Marrone of Galax, VA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Wednesday, June 25 at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday, June 24 from 4-8pm. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
