Trudi Murphy, age 83, of Wakefield, formerly of Belmont and West Peabody passed peacefully at home on Saturday October 15, 2022 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Melrose on August 27, 1939 she was the daughter of Duncan and Reta (Johnson) Miller.
Trudi was raised and educated in Belmont, MA and was a graduate of Belmont High School, 1957. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belmont where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday School Class and was Deacon of the Church.
She was employed at Polaroid, worked briefly as a Kelly Girl and enjoyed a 36-year career working for the Town of Wakefield - she was Secretary in the Personnel Office and the Selectmen's office. She made many friends at Town Hall and deeply missed Town Administrators John McCarthy and Tommy Butler.
If you knew Trudi, she most likely knew your birthday and sent you a card every year! She was known for sending cards for all occasions to family and friends. Trudi was an avid reader, she enjoyed bowling on Friday mornings at the Wakefield Bowladrome and having monthly lunches with the "Retirees". She treasured her longtime friendships with Maureen Mello and Sally Frissore.
She loved her role as Nana to her five grandchildren and enjoyed watching their sporting events, dance recitals - anything they participated in. She was always there to cheer them on or yell at the refs!
She is survived by her loving daughters Susan Auld (Geoffrey) and Linda Longo (Anthony). She was the proud Nana of Brian, Andrew, Mark, Matthew Auld and Audrey Longo of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late Edmund Miller and Leslie N. Miller. She is survived by nieces Darlene, Debi, Brenda, and Laurie and by many cousins including Barbara Johnson of Belmont.
