Virginia Nelson

Virginia Nelson , 91, of Mattapan formerly of Wakefield died on Sunday, December 7 at the Golden Living of West Newton.

Born in Malden on January 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Gavel) DeRenne.

Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1942. She then attained a Degree in Proficiency from Western Union School and had gone on to work as an office manager at Western Union, from where she later retired.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her sister Lillian Finney of Nashua, NH. She was predeceased by her 6 sisters Gladys Obren, Dorothy Wilkes, Josephine Harnish, Helen Liberty, Beatrice Smith and Vera Sanborn and her 6 brothers; Lawrence DeRenne, Edgar DeRenne, Arnold DeRenne, Melvin DeRenne, Howard DeRenne and Harvey DeRenne. Mrs. Nelson is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Friday at 12noon. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service starting at 11am. Interment will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
