Warren W. Magoon

Warren Whitney Magoon, 84, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Reading, Massachusetts. A devoted husband, loving father and brother, cherished grandfather, and passionate gardener, Warren leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep-rooted family values.

Born on April 25, 1941, in Boston, Massachusetts, Warren was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1958. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Boston University in 1962. His education laid the foundation for a successful career marked by dedication and leadership.

Warren began his professional journey as an HR Manager at State Street Bank in Boston, where he worked for over 18 years. His commitment to helping others find meaningful work led him to establish his own employment leasing company, The Career Store in Wakefield. After retiring from his business endeavors, Warren continued to stay active by supporting his wife at her company, M.P. & Co. Tax and Financial Services in East Boston and Wakefield.

Warren is survived by his beloved wife, Grace (Previte) Magoon, with whom he shared over 60 years of unwavering love and partnership. Together they built a beautiful life filled with warmth, tradition, and enduring devotion. Grace was the light of his life, his bride and very best friend.

He was the proud father of Matt Magoon and his wife, Kerri, of Wakefield and Greg Magoon and his wife, Karen, of Holliston. Warren’s greatest joy came from his role as “Papa” to his adored grandchildren: Brayden, Camden, and Emmelyn of Wakefield; and Hannah, Brenton, Colby, and Ryan Magoon of Holliston. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines or share his thoughts on the game.

Warren is also survived by his brother Norman Magoon and his wife, Susan, of Yarmouth, Maine, along with several other relatives who meant the world to him. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Florence Magoon of Winthrop.

A man of many passions, Warren found peace and purpose in gardening—cultivating both flowers and memories in his yard. He was also a devoted sports fan who proudly supported all local Boston teams. His love for community service was evident through his involvement as a proud member of the Rotary Club of Wakefield. He also served on the School Committee, acted as Chairman of the Wakefield Disability Commission, and coached various Wakefield youth sports teams throughout the years, including baseball, basketball, and soccer.

Warren will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a family deeply grateful for the love he gave so freely and the lessons he imparted through both words and actions. His memory will live on in every garden bloom he once tended and every cheer from the stands he once gave.

Warren Whitney Magoon will be missed beyond measure and remembered always. Visiting hours will be held on September 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. in Wakefield. A Funeral Service will be held on September 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Parish, 173 Albion Street in Wakefield. Interment, Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
