William H. Hall

William H. Hall left this world on February 24, 2025 at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury, MA. His parents, Irene and Gino Porzio, predeceased him.

"Billy" was born on May 31, 1950 in Boston, MA. He grew up in Allston and Medford. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of seventeen. Billy proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970.

Upon returning from the war, Billy soon fulfilled his dream and became a member of the Medford Fire Department. He loved being a devoted firefighter, always helping others, and serving a tenure as union president. Billy cherished the lasting friendships he made, often sharing stories about his time at Headquarters and driving Engine One! Unfortunately, his beloved firefighting career ended abruptly after eighteen years due to a severe spinal cord injury. His world changed but the overwhelming support from everyone was inspirational.

Throughout his life, Billy had a love of football, history, cruising, Chinese food, trivia, and movies. He enjoyed playing all sports, traveling and learning about different cultures. Engaging others in conversation was his greatest passion!

Billy leaves his wife of 29 years, Suzanne, from Wakefield, his daughter Cheryl from Peabody, his five brothers, and his entire brotherhood of firefighters. In addition, he leaves the staff of the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the VA Medical Center in Brockton. These extraordinary healthcare workers became his "other family".

Billy has left a legacy of courage, strength and resilience. At his request, there were no services. If desired, a donation in his memory may be sent to:

Wings for Life USA, Spinal Cord Injury Research Foundation, 1630 Stewart Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404.

Run and be free, Billy.
